TRAYLOR RANCH HIKE

Tuesday, August 14

DIFFICULTY: Easy

ELEVATION GAIN:
Negligible.  Trail is flat --- no ups or downs!

HIKE DISTANCE: 3 to 3 1/2 miles.

GENERAL LOCATION:
Loomis/Penryn area --- just off  Sierra College Blvd.

DESCRIPTION:
The Traylor Ranch Bird Sanctuary and Nature Reserve is an 88 acre gem very near Lincoln Hills!  Rise early with the birds and come and enjoy their lovely habitat!  Land owners, Art and Helene Traylor, donated their land to Placer County in 1988 to create this Nature Reserve so that the public could enjoy the beauty and wonder of nature as they did.  We will walk through the Reserve for about 1 1/2 hours or more, then we will drive to The Wild Chicken, a specialty coffee and tea shop in Loomis to enjoy drinks before returning to Lincoln Hills.  If you do not wish to go to The Wild Chicken after hiking, then you need to take your own car, or all such people need to ride in the same car.  Another plus on this walk -- we will pick and eat the wild blackberries, as we did last year.  Yum!!

TRAVEL TIME/DISTANCE: Only 15 minutes from Lincoln Hills - a 6 mile drive one way. Suggested contribution for riders is a special bargain price of $1. Detailed driving directions will be handed out to all drivers.  Return time to Lincoln Hills --- approximately 10:30 am --- after coffee or tea in Loomis.

HIKE LEADER/SWEEP:
Sue Geisler/sweep to be announced.

SPECIAL NOTES:

FACILITIES AVAILABLE: A port-a-potty after about a mile into the trail.  Best to use the Fitness Center bathrooms before leaving Lincoln Hills.
PREPARATION FOR HIKE:
